Gentlemen. An excellent discussion. Found myself wanting to chime in on multiple occasions. Stef’s definition of the heroic ideal 🎯
I’m neither a Pizza or a Potato, but as a fellow European (Macedonian), I’m as disappointed in Peterson’s omission of European history in his works as you both are and agree on a lot of what you guys discussed.
It’s an incredibly nuanced topic and I appreciate the back n forth on it. For my part, I have attempted to thread the needle between the various world views. The best I’ve come up with is what I’m calling the Christo-Hoppe-Nietzschean paradigm. It’s like the ethics of Christianity, the politico-economic foundation of Hoppe and the vitalism & heroism of Nietzsche.
Who knows. Maybe it’s string-theory-esque pipe dream - or maybe I’m onto something. Certainly a worthwhile discussion for a future episode.
